Getting paid for doing nothing

I just submitted the most awkward, weird, nervous-making, guilt-ridden invoice I ever have. (If you can assign attributes to an invoice.) That’s because I’m invoicing for work not done.

Since losing my job in November, I managed to secure a 3-month contract gig at an advertising agency. I’m a writer and I’ve been brought on to, well, write. From firedfornow to hiredfornow

By the time you read this, I may be frantically searching for cheap parking downtown, or being walked around an unfamiliar office being introduced to strangers (who hopefully are not strange), or trying to figure out the closest place to get a decent cup of coffee, or just feeling quite out of place.

I start a 3-month contract gig today, so technically, I’m no longer unemployed.

Now I don’t exactly have secure employment either. So I figure that means I can keep writing firedfornow.com.
